Freshness before headlines

A small change to how Mu handles news searches: when the available results are older than the current day for a date-sensitive query, the answer now leads with a freshness caveat before listing any stories. The caveat appears first, not buried at the end.

This matters because news is about timing. If you ask about today’s event and the only indexed articles are from two days ago, seeing that upfront saves you from skimming a list that looks current but isn’t. The caveat is plain: “The following results are not from today. They may be older.” Then the stories follow. No surprise after you’ve already read the first few.

The trade-off is that the answer is slightly longer. But the clarity outweighs the extra line. It is honest about what the tool can and cannot do at that moment. The same restraint applies here as everywhere else in Mu: no algorithmic feed, no infinite scroll, no hiding the limits of the data. The person using the tool decides what to do with the information.
