Andy Burnham shakes up Whitehall with new government department

Andy Burnham has created a new Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, led by Louise Haigh, which will oversee both No 10 in London and a northern equivalent. The department absorbs parts of the Cabinet Office, Treasury, and housing ministry, with local growth and devolution teams moving to the No 10 North unit to make it the "dominant driver of the UK's economy." Other Cabinet Office functions, such as HR and pensions, will be transferred to a new agency called OneGov.
